An analysis of all the remote-sensing data from measurement and control centers shows that the Chuangxin-1, a small satellite designed and built by CAS, has been in good working condition and its platform and payloads are operating smoothly. As China's first experimental small satellite for data communications in low earth orbit, the Chuangxin-1 was sent to its present orbit on October 21.
This was released by Dr. Jiang Mianheng, CAS vice-president and principal investigator for the satellite, at a review meeting on December 14 at the CAS Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology, where Jiang delivered a report entitled "developing China's satellites in low earth orbit through joint, united and innovative efforts"
